10 Trending Foods in June 2023

I always love to check out the latest trends, especially the delicious ones! Food trends can be fun to try if you are a foodie or adventurous eater and can also be beneficial to keep on top of, if you work in the food industry.

Check out these 10 trending foods for June 2023:

  1. Healthy smoothie popsicles

As the summer approaches and the weather gets warmer, the need for a refreshing mid-day treat increases. In midst of increased health consciousness, many individuals have opted to making their own frozen treats and have been adding lots of nutrient packed ingredients. One Instagram user (@_haleyhendel) created a green freezer pop with “2 large handfuls of spinach, 1 full pineapple, splash of OJ and a splash of water”. Love this delicious and nutritious trend!

  2. Celebrity smoothies

I’m sure we’ve all seen the viral Hailey Bieber smoothie TikTok’s going around. But it does not end there! Social media users are now posting renditions of famous smoothies purchased and made by celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Jenifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. I can’t wait to give some of these recipes a try!

  3. Tarte Tatin (upside down fruit tarts)

This one takes the cake (or tart rather)! This is hands down my favorite dessert that Tim’s dad has been making me for years now and now the world has turned it into a trend for all to enjoy! Don’t walk, run and get the ingredients to make this one!

  4. Yogurt Bites

In the worlds attempt to eat more protein and reduce sugar, many have turned to yogurt bites as their go-to dessert. Usually made with greek yogurt, fruit and dark chocolate, these bites are delicious, satisfying and boost your daily protein intake!

  5. Mocktails (not food but still yum)

A new wave of individuals opting for a life of sobriety has taken center stage and I am here for it! Although there is a recommended amount of alcohol that is regarded as safe to consume, a very wise dietitian once said to me, the recommended amount should be if you don’t drink, don’t start. That being said, many of the mocktails I am seeing online look absolutely amazing and best part? No hangover! Some individuals are creating mocktails with health benefits by including various herbs and tinctures!

  6. Pasture-raised meat and eggs

Animal welfare and the impact animal product consumption has on our health has been of importance and debate for many years. Most recently the suggestion of a balanced diet including animal-based foods that come from wholesome sources has been the focus. Although in traditional grocery stores, this may be a more expensive option, a good way to shop more wholesome and healthy animal products is to find local sources. This not only benefits the animals and your health but can aid in supporting your local economy.

  7. Butter boards

I love butter, so this trend is right up my ally. I’ve seen many individuals making very unique forms of butter and dipping all sorts of au d'oeuvres in it and I 100% support.

  8. Tinned fish

As someone who grew up on tuna salad sandwiches, I was shocked to see my childhood lunch become a trend, but onward we go! Many individuals have been eating tinned fish as my mother made mine (salad sandwich form), straight from the can or via charcuterie board. All excellent choices in my opinion.

  9. Moringa

If you are like me and even the smallest drop of caffeine causes your heart to take off like a rocket ship but you enjoy the delicious and earthy flavor of matcha, moringa is for you! Moringa has all the flavor of matcha without the caffeine and with added health benefits!

  10. Simple foods

Back to basics. Many are taking more of an interest in ingredient labels, opting for less ingredients and more whole foods over processed foods and I love to see it! This trend is a great way to encourage companies to lessen their ingredients and get back to a simpler recipe as well as reducing inflammatory ingredients we ingest. One way I have been using this trend in my life is through making my own bread, it is shockingly simple and has saved me a pretty penny. 10/10 recommend.
