5 Of The Best Lunch Ideas For Kids
When it comes to feeding your little ones, lunch can be a big challenge. I always say lunch is my least favorite meal because even as an adult I struggle to figure out what to eat. But it doesn’t have to be that way!
Some of my favorite ways to improve lunch for kids is to include fun shapes, sizes, colors and containers to the meal. You can also get your child involved in the lunch making process and encourage their creativity in putting something great together!
Here are some of my favorite lunch ideas for kids:
Homemade lunchables: Find a fun container with 5 different compartments. Into different compartments respectively, add cubed cheese, rolled deli turkey breast, sliced grapes or strawberries, carrot sticks with a smaller container of ranch dip, and a stack of crackers. This is a fun charcuterie-board style lunch that will allow your kids to get creative and construct their lunch how they like!
Cracker sandwiches: Take 6 pairs of circular crackers of choice and create mini sandwiches using deli turkey meat cut into circles, cheddar cheese cut into circles, thin cucumber circles and any condiment your child enjoys! Pair the sandwiches with a side of fruit such as cut up grapes, strawberries or apples for a well balanced meal!
DIY kabob’s: Kabobs ingredients include mozzarella balls, pepperoni cubes, and cherry tomatoes. Place kabob ingredients in separate compartments of a lunch container. Add a separate baggy with kabob sticks and a sticky note with instructions on how to construct the kabob’s. This a fun and interactive lunch that includes a good source of protein, calcium and vegetables!
Fun fondue: Using fondue recipe of choice (Here is a fun cheddar recipe I found) . Place fondue in temperature controlled thermos. Place cubed bread, diced apples and celery sticks into a container with separate compartments. Add a separate baggy with kabob sticks so your child can skewer and dip into the fondue! For added pizazz, cut the bread and apples into different shapes using small cookie cutters!
Taco Tuesday: Place ground turkey or beef, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes into a container with separate compartments. Pack a separate baggy with tacos or soft tortillas and add a sticky note with instructions on constructing the tacos. Pair with some apple slices or a cup of berries for added nutrients!
